The ABNielsen.com Universal Serial Adapter is a versatile and fully assembled adapter designed for engineers and developers who need to interface USB-C, RS232, and TTL systems. This open-source adapter features pre-installed ICs and connectors, providing a robust foundation for embedded system development, diagnostics, and prototyping. Some advanced features require soldering or modifications to the PCB for full customization.

Note: Connectors, IC's and headers are assembled. A minimum of 7 jumpers of random colors are included for configuration with this product. Cables, enclosures, etc are not included.

• USB-C to RS232 Interface: Includes a USB-C (female) connector and a DSUB9 RS232 (male) port, enabling seamless communication between modern USB-C devices and legacy RS232 systems.
• TTL Signal Breakouts: Provides access to TTL RX, TX, and control signals for easy integration with UART-based systems and external circuits.
• Fully Assembled: All critical components, including WCH CH340G USB-to-UART and SP3243 TTL-to-RS232 ICs, are pre-installed, offering plug-and-play functionality right out of the box.
• Polarity Configuration with Jumpers: RS232 RX, TX, and control signal polarities can be switched using pre-installed 2.54mm headers and jumpers:
  • Straight connection: Place the jumpers horizontally.
  • Crossed connection: Place the jumpers vertically.
• 3.3V Linear Regulator: Integrated 3.3V linear regulator for stable power delivery to external components or circuits.
• USB-C Line Breakouts: USB-C data lines are broken out for developers who need direct access to modern USB signaling.
• Open-Source Design: Designed using KiCAD 8, all design files are open-source and available on GitHub, allowing users to customize, modify, and contribute to the project.
• Customization Options: While the adapter comes pre-assembled, advanced users can modify the PCB, solder additional components, or cut traces to further tailor the board for specific needs.
